- Pursuant to a treaty with the European Union you can travel through and in Europe (including the Netherlands) without the need for a visa. If you have a biometric passport you can stay in our country for 90 days. You can also apply for a 90-day short-stay visa. So you don't need to worry about your right of residence.

If you apply for accommodation assistance the municipality will determine which reception facility has space for you, so you don't get to choose. Of course you can also arrange for your own accommodation.

Your medical care will be paid for through a subsidy arrangement. Your care provider can put in a claim for your medical expenses. For urgent care you can visit the UMC Utrecht, the Diakonessenhuis or the St. Antonius Hospital.

Because the Temporary Protection Regulation has been put into effect you, as a Ukrainian national, are entitled to accommodation and assistance in the Netherlands as you are likely to be staying here for an extended period. To be eligible for the facilities provided by the Regulation. You must register in the Personal Records Database (BRP). If you meet the conditions for temporary protection you will be classed as a ‘temporary resident with protected status’.

- Effective from 1 April Ukrainian refugees can work in the Netherlands, subject to the following conditions:
- Register in the municipality where you are staying and you will be provided with a document showing your residence status as a temporary resident with protected status. It will take some time to produce the documents showing your right of residence, so there is a transition period from 4 March - 30 May 2022.
- You will need a Citizen Service Number (BSN).
- Your employer must register you with the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV). You will need a Ukrainian passport for this purpose. Until 15 April someone can also be registered retroactively. After 15 April registration must be completed at least two days before the start of the employment.
- Employers can only hire someone on the basis of an employment contract.
- The employer does not need a work permit for non-EU nationals. During the transition period (4 March - 30 May 2022) the work permit exemption applies to all Ukrainian nationals, provided they can demonstrate their nationality with the appropriate documents.

All children aged 5 through 16 without a residence permit can attend school, just like Dutch children. You can register a child at any school. The school will decide whether the child can be admitted.
In Utrecht parents of school-age children up to the age of 12 can register with the Taalschool by e-mailing start@taalschoolutrecht.nl or by visiting the website https://taalschoolutrecht.nl/.
You can register with Ithaka. This is a school for students from foreign countries.
